GENRE OF MUSIC: Asian (Indian) classical, Folk songs, Pop songs, Semi Classical Movie Songs, Religious Songs, hymns etc. Mainly in Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi 

languages. 

LANGUAGE: Hindi, Punjabi and Gujarati, Urdu. 

TOPIC OF SHOW: I have called my show Alka's Chillout Show, so I play a variety of 

songs, I also hold a competition to make patients alert and try to divert their minds 

from their suffering. Keep them up to date with local news, shows (asian) and play 

songs of the artists, so that they feel that they have not missed out by being in 

hospital.

FAVOURITE SONG/SINGER/GROUP Semi classical hindi songs, Romantic and religious songs. my favourite singers 

are Lata Mangshkar, Rahat Ali Khan, Shreya Gosal, Sonu Nigum, Alka Yagnic, 

Shankar Mahatlena.

WHAT CHR MEANS TO ME: CHR is the media where patients get most 

entertainment, help them feel better, relax, and this means a lot to me.

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY: I am a singer and have done stage shows with various asian bands. In the 70's an asian song contest was held in Coventry Cathedral, Our 

group (band) of which I was the singer came first, I have also produced and 

compered a show to raise funds for Orissa cyclone and the I ndian earthquake. 

I am retired and have worked as a marketing officer and recruitment consultant. At 

present I am doing a lot of voluntary work,

1) As a JP at Coventry Magistrates Court                                               2) British Heart Foundation

3) school govenor at Cardinal Wiseman School 4) Assistant secretary at Shree Krishna Temple and of course here at CHR as a 

presenter, I have good experience in fund raising for charity, also I enjoy 

crosswords and sudoku.
